Billings

Our favorite starting point for a Yellowstone or Glacier National Park trip is Billings, Montana, not least because your onward trip will take you across the spectacular Beartooth Highway, one of the most scenic stretches of highway in the USA!

Billings is the largest city in Montana, and makes a great starting point for a road trip with all the amenities on offer. Whether your road trip is by car or RV you can spend a night here before heading off, making use of the many hotels, shops, restaurants, and campgrounds. Or, if you can’t bear to wait any longer, head out of the city and begin your memorable vacation with a stay in Yellowstone, where there are countless camping options.

Billings itself has a number of great attractions that are worth checking out with your family. The Pictograph Cave State Park has cave paintings that have been found to be more than 2,000 years old. And for more history, you can visit the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument.

Outdoor activities are limitless around Billings. There are places for rock climbing, hiking and fishing. During the summer, open air concerts and festivals keep things fun for the whole family. You could probably take your entire vacation in Billings and not run out of things to do, but you’re here for the road trip of a lifetime!
