Vol. 1, No. 1 - Our first newsletter

Our first order of business is to tell you all about the new website.  We've added a number of new features to our existing website.  With the help of our web partners, Newfangled.com, we now have much more control of the content than we did with the last version of the website and we've added a trip search feature that will help you find just the right trip for you and your family.

Our second order of business for our first newsletter is to talk about the recent showing of a truly unique and broad look at the National Parks.  The PBS series, produced by Ken Burns - The National Parks, America's Best Idea - has been watched by thousands if not millions of viewers either live or recorded over the past couple of weeks.  This was an opportunity to watch a quality television series that showcased the National Parks in the United States. Ken Burns has established himself with popular documentary series on colorful and complex issues such as Jazz and Baseball. This series has definitely inspired us at Tracks & Trails.  We hoped it has inspired you too.

Many of our favorite parks were included in this landmark focus on many of our national treasures. From the small to large, from the rarely visited to the most popular, from east to west, there was something for everyone.

Whether you have taken a Tracks & Trails western driving adventure in the past or not, we know that you have many choices for family vacations. And we know that budgets are tighter than ever. And every day there are new travel opportunities and destinations that entice us all.

We hope that when you watched the Ken Burns' PBS series that you not only get inspired to want to visit a National Park, but you consider allowing Tracks & Trails to help you plan your adventure.

We have identified not only the best campgrounds in and around the National Parks of the western United States & Canada (Florida, too!), but we can also arrange for the best hotels, lodges, and cabins available along many of our routes. Just contact us and ask one of our Trip Consultants for details.

Here's are a couple of our most popular trips to wet your whistle:
Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons via the Beartooth Highway
Yellowstone has so many highlights that it can be difficult to know where to start! Must-sees include Old Faithful, of course, and Grand Geyser; the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone; Petrified Forest; Roaring Mountain; Mammoth Hot Springs; Fort Yellowstone; and Artist Paint Pots, but these are just a few of the major attractions within the nearly 3,500 square miles of park.

Grand Teton National Park is full of hiking trails that you and your family can enjoy together. In fact, nearly 200 miles of trails exist here, leading you to some of the country's most scenic vistas. You can cover a lot of ground on foot in a day, or let us book a half day mountain bike tour for you instead.

Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon and Zion National Parks
Utah is just full of the most amazing scenery and while Arches National Park is famous for its sandstone arches, visitors come to Bryce Canyon National Park to see the impressive stone hoodoos.

The Grand Canyon is on a lot of people's "Bucket List" of things they just have to see before they die. And once you see it, you'll understand why. Frankly, the park is so large and has so many things to see and do that it's hard to really cover it all. You can easily spend your entire family vacation here.

Zion National Park is a bit different from most other canyon country parks, because there's dense forest in parts of this park compared to just the bare stone mesas and canyon walls. So you can see even more scenery and natural wilderness when you visit on your next vacation.

So, if watching the Ken Burns PBS special gives you the itch to take a road trip to one of our picturesque National Parks, we hope that you will contact one of our Trip Consultants to explore the possibilities.
